Visitors to Jaci’s Lodges can easily access Madikwe Game Reserve via road or by air. A 3½-hour drive from Johannesburg or an hour’s charter flight from OR Tambo International Airport gets you there.
GPS directions are not reliable, and we recommend that you do not use them.
***NOTE*** Due to sporadic & unforeseen road closures, we recommend self drive guests & road travelers confirm their intended driving route on their day of arrival & check local road conditions before their departure / arrival. As of June 2018, there are currently roadworks from Dwarsberg towards Madikwe for approximately 10kms. We expect these to be complete by the end of the year.
Landing-strip fees, Reserve entrance fees and fuel levies are payable per person for use of the airstrip, and will be added to your invoice when booking
There is a strict baggage allowance of 20kg per person (soft bag*) on all scheduled flights and private charters
All OR Tambo International Airport connecting flights must land/depart at least two hours (three hours for international flights) before/after the scheduled private charter-flight departure/arrival time to allow for possible delays
All flights are subject to weather conditions
Should a flight not be possible, a road transfer will be arranged
Private pilots must request, sign and return the indemnity form from Jaci’s Lodges before landing on the eastern airstrip in Madikwe
Surface tar length:1 500m
Elevation: 1 158m
*Not all airlines accept rigid cases, so it is advisable to carry a small duffel bag or soft case in your main suitcase for your time at Jaci’s Lodges. You can pack your soft bag with your clothing and other equipment for your safari, and leave the hard case at the airline offices for collection on your return
