Jaci’s Lodges and Cheetah plains – a Trip to remember

Located in two separate biomes and about 8hrs drive from one another. Cheetah plains and Jaci’s Lodges offer a wide and bigger perspective when it comes to a safari experience. Whether it’s the lovely red-bushwillow trees of the Sabi sands or the majestic Sheppard’s tree standing fast on Madikwe’ red soil, provides a lovely back drop for any photographic or just in the moment experience.

The most amazing leopard encounters like never before, cheetah plains gave me my long awaited Leopard female with cub photo which was very rewarding on a personal level. Comparing to the 75 000 hectors and +-1200 elephants in Madikwe game reserve moving in big groups and almost always relaxed. It’s difficult to decide which of the two I like the most. If I had the choice I would book 4 nights at Jaci’s and 3 nights in cheetah plains, that’s 7days of the best safari experience you can have in South Africa.

Some of the world’s most ferocious Lions can be found in the Sabi sands, you can see for yourself on you tube.-“Legendary lions of the Sabi sands”, just to give you a little perspective of what you can find at “the sands”. Both of the reserves have wild dog and anybody who has encountered wild dog before will tell you that it’s their best encounter thus far. Both lodges has quality in service and staff with their own different touches when it comes to adventure and vision.

Madikwe game reserve is located on the border where Savanna becomes desert and that offers a wide variety when it comes to general game. With springbok and impala on the same reserve it gives the guests an opportunity to see the world’s fastest land mammal in action. Even though there is only 500 cheetah left in the wild we get to see them on a regular basis. Two out of the three times I saw the cheetah they made a kill, and don’t get me started on the lion and their entertaining developments through the day.

One thing South Africans are very proud of is their appetite and their skill to create the most unique tastes in food and presentation. Whether its sitting around the fire overlooking the water hole in Cheetah Plains or a well-organized plated dinner at Jaci’s lodges, you will get a taste of the finest foods and flavors our great country has to offer with a dash of precision and passion. Not to mention the African night sky which not a lot of South Africans has even seen before, It truly is a wonderful and life changing experience.

Diversity and quality in two different lodges. I’m not going to be the guy that tells you which lodge is the best, I’m simply going to tell you “why not do both?”
