We are extremely excited to announce a brand new safari offering! Jaci’s Lodges has teamed up with our sister property in the Sabi Sands, Cheetah Plains Private Game Reserve to give you the Cats and Dogs Photographic Safari.

Under the guidance of renowned wildlife and nature photographer, Andrew Aveley, this dual destination photographic safari will give you countless photographic opportunities of some of the best wildlife that South Africa has to offer.

You will meet up with Andrew at the Fedair Terminal at OR Tambo international airport and catch a short flight to Cheetah Plains Private Game Reserve where you will be collected from the airstrip by your guide, and taken to the lodge. The Sabi Sands Game Reserve within which Cheetah Plains is located, is renowned for the spectacular sightings of Big Cats – from the elusive leopards to the various prides of lions that have a territory within the reserve. The cats are habituated to the game viewers, meaning that they are relaxed around the vehicles, but still exhibit natural behaviour without any undue influence from our presence.

There are few better places to view and photograph Big Cats!

After two full days of Safaris, and hopefully memory cards full of stunning images, you will hop onto a cross country flight from Cheetah Plains to Jaci’s Lodges in the Madikwe game Reserve.

The Madikwe Game reserve is situated on the Botswanan Border, and on the fringe of the Kalahari desert. It is known for its population of endangered wild dogs, black rhino as well a huge variety of mammals, birds, reptiles and insects.

Jaci’s Lodges is the perfect destination for photographic safaris. The submerged Terrapin Photographic Hide located in the Jaci’s Waterhole is accessible 24 hours a day, and provides you with a water level shooting angle of the animals the come down to drink. Think herds of elephants, journeys of giraffe, dazzles of zebra plus a lot more. You might even get lucky and capture an elusive leopard or lion coming down to drink.

The Jaci’s Photographic Safari Vehicle is kitted with gimpro game viewer mounts, and the field guides are all specially trained in photographic vehicle placement.

During the activities you will be given exclusive oportunity to work with Andrew on various techniques one could use at a specific sighting or scene that is encountered on drive. From in camera creative styles to technicl settings and compositional ideas. The goal is to improve your skill and look for portfolio grade images and memories.

In between drives there will also be an oportunity for you to look at iamge development and #creatingphotography with Andrew on a one on one basis or as a whole with the small group you will be. We will concentrate on Lightroom and for those Canon users , the DPP professional software they use.

Andrew dedication to his craft will no doubt lead you to being able to create images that you will appreciate for a very long time after the trip.
